Everything in Moderation…

It’s been several years since my last blog. I did not realize how long it had been. I’ve just been busy living life. Since then I have been “chasing rabbits” going from one new “guru” to the next, but that’s not a bad thing, in my opinion, that’s a good thing.  It means that I am learning. I am on my own life journey to happiness and health.

I have learned in these past years through all of this that you take what is best for you from all of the information that you get and from all of the teachers or gurus out there. It is not necessary to stick to just one person or follow just one person. Follow your own self.

And as far as mate is concerned… It has a lot of good properties to it and it will wake you up like lightning, but at my age I had to slow down with it, even stop drinking it because it had some adverse affects on me like I found myself having bouts of anxiety even to the point that my jaw was stiff. Not a good thing!

I read or heard 20160401_105110somewhere that when you ask a question to yourself the answer will come from within. So the answer did come to me about why I was having all of that anxiety or why it was being agravated in me. At first I thought it was just my compulsive thoughts getting the best of me (and that was true to some degree).  I heard that little inside voice saying “it’s the mate” and sure enough when I quit drinking it it stopped. What did I learn from this? The answer is listen to the voice inside you (whatever you want to call it) and to listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs.

Another thing that I have learned in these past 2-3 years is (and I had heard this before, but had not really paid attention to it) is life is what you make of it. We can sit there passively thinking that we are at the mercy of our compulsive thoughts and destiny or fate, but in reality we can choose what we think, what we do  and even our emotions. We have the power to make our life the way we want it to be. I think that most of the time what keeps us from doing anything is fear. That’s really what it boils down to. Fear of what will happen if we follow our dreams, fear of what other’s might say, fear of rejection, fear of failing.

I’ve spent a lot of my life that way until now I turned 57 this month and I decided that I’d had enough of fear. That I would take the “bull by the horns” and I mean that as in “a crock of #*#! What have I do fear, death? We are all going to croak eventually. So why not live life the way you dream? Why waste your time living in fear and living in quiet desperation dreaming all of your life of how you would like it to be? So I decided to seize the day and start to believe in me and believe in my dreams and go for it! I will not tell about what they are yet. I will tell you more as they unfold. In the mean time get out there and seize the day! 🙂

Practicing Leaning Towards the Vortex

cats and expressive rock 027Every morning, for the past week, I have been taking my mate out on the deck to sit and enjoy the morning before I get to work on my writing. I find peace and inspiration sitting there listening to the sounds of nature and writing my gratitude log for the day. This is one of my recent logs, one of my recent exercises to practice getting into my Vortex. For those who don’t know what that means look at one of my past posts or look up Esther Hicks on the internet. I will not go into it for now.

The purpose of this exercise is to raise my frequency or vibration  to a higher level. To the level of my vortex where I can find joy and love and all of the good things that I have been storing there. Here is one of my favorite ones that I want to share with you in this post.

I don’t have to worry about anything; I only have to ask the Universe and it is given. I am worthy simply because I exist and my wish is the Universe’s command. I desire and I say it out loud and the Source agrees and brings it to pass–okays it. I am making withdrawals from my escrow. I am getting into the vortex, loving the feeling of feeling good most of the time and I want to continue practicing being there.

I am enjoying the moment, sitting here on the porch, near nature listening to the many varieties of birds and the beautiful sounds that they make. I hear a rooster crowing , the crickets and the cicadas, nature’s lullaby.

I see a ray of sun streaming down through the trees. There is a forest right behind where I live, abundant with wildlife. A baby rabbit scampers through the leaves. A grasshopper who was asleep on the rail, woke up when he smelled my mate and hopped on to the metal straw. I told him that he needed to get off of my drink and go find another one.

The cats are looking out through the screen door enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. This is true Zen; sitting here drinking mate, accompanied by cats and drinking mate is entering Zen to me. I feel vibrant and alive. There are good things brewing for me on the horizon for I have put many things that I want into my vortex and they are coming to fruition. I like the contrast I experience for it helps me to know what I like and what I don’t like. I have arrived, I am in my vortex.

“The Universe in ecstatic motion.” (mate and yerbabuena)

ImageLately, as I said in a previous blog, I have been listening a lot to Esther Hicks/ Abraham Hicks on YouTube. I am learning about raising my frequency, remaining in the vortex or grid. I am enjoying being in the place where I feel good most of the time and working on being aware about how I feel all the time so that I can think thoughts that make me feel good. That is what is going to raise my frequency.

I had the most bizzare dream last night! I won’t tell you about it because it was too weird. The only thing I did before I went to bed was to drink a tissane of an herb called Boldo, genus Peumus, an herb from that grows in certain countries in South America.

It is used to cure an upset stomach or a hangover. I used it to aid my digestion because I over-ate ( to experience my joy, won’t be doing any astral projection with that) pasta with garlic, butter and parsley, topped with Parmesan cheese (with loads of garlic), not to mention the piece of chocolate cake.

Back to the boldo I usually drink it after lunch, but I never experienced this effect before. It was surreal! So there is more to this herb than meets the eye. I read in Wikipedia that some people put it in their mate.

Today I put some spearmint or yerbabuena, as it is called in South America,  in my mate which gave it a nice minty taste. It is said that it is good for treating inflammation and for headaches. I like to find natural ways to treat minor aches and pains instead of popping NSAIDS all the time.

You might ask when reading my post today, why the title? It comes from a quote from Rumi. “Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.” We forget who  we are. We get lost in our thoughts and think we are not worth anything because of all of the negative mental conditioning we have, but the truth is that we are amazing! We are part of the great One Life. We are as multi-dimensional and creative as the universe itself.

When we get lost in our thoughts and forget who we are we can tell by the way we feel that we are out of alignment with who we really are. We attract things to us that we do not want or the same things that we do not want over and over.

So the idea is to get into the vortex, to get into alignment with our true self and how we know we are there is by getting to a place where we are feeling good all of the time. As a result we will attract things that resonate or vibrate at the same frequency; we will attract the things that we desire.

To get to that place we think thoughts that make us feel good. So today think of things that make you feel good. Esther Hicks talks about the 17 second flash point or process in which …when you hold a thought for 17 seconds another thought that is vibrationally  the same joins that thought. This causes a chain of thoughts that are of the same frequency. The idea is to keep up  the momentum thinking thoughts that bring you happiness or joy to maintain that vibration. Here is another video link of Esther Hicks on YouTube where she talks about this: http://youtu.be/iAThj25ciCU

Guided Meditations

BuddhaIt would be ideal to be able to meditate first thing in the morning when you wake up. I try to meditate in bed when I am still in that alpha level, which is the brain wave level when you are in a relaxed state or about to fall a sleep.

I am still working on it because I find that sometimes or quite often my mind takes over before I realize it or I fall back to sleep. I then have to bring myself back and empty my mind of all thought. If I fall asleep I just allow it.

I find that my day goes much better when I meditate. I am a more peaceful person, easier to get along with. If I just jump into my day I tend to become stressed, anxious and the day is strained. I am much more in tune with my deeper self when I meditate. Everything is more relaxed, more filled with ease.

Guided meditations are sometimes very useful when one is very tired, especially when your mind is tired and it is hard to let go. I enjoy finding them on You Tube.

Just recently, like I said in my last post, I have been listening to Esther Hicks ( or Abraham) and visiting her website. She had some wonderful meditations, very relaxing on well being. I will put the link for you below so you can go straight to it if you would like to try it.

The music is really relaxing in this particular video and the scenery is beautiful. It is also very uplifting. There are many other guided meditations out there to try. I recommend you try different ones and see which one works the best for you. Not only do I find them relaxing, but  they also help me to be more in touch with my deeper self.

Morning Mate

ImageEvery morning I drink yerba mate on of my mate gourds with a nifty metal straw that has springs on it. My sister brought it back for me from Argentina when she went for a visit. Mate gets me going in the morning. It wakes up my brain and it does not have the down-shifting feeling that coffee gives me a little while after I drink it.

This morning I mixed two different kinds of yerba mate for my breakfast. One brand is the strongest named Canarias and it, like the old saying goes “will grow hair on your chest”. Not really, just kidding ( Not good for us women). The other is a more smooth brand, Nobleza Gaucha.

I like to sip it on the way to work, which in my case is a specialty printing company that my husband, son and I have started (if you need printing let us know 😉 ).Then when I arrive I sip it some more while I think of what I need to get done during the day.

Lately I have been listening to Esther Hicks or Abraham Hicks about getting into The Vortex. In one her videos she was explaining how to get into the vortex and how to stay in it. You know that you are in the vortex by the way you feel. When you are feeling positive emotions you are in the vortex. You might ask, what is the  vortex?

It has to do with the Law of Attraction or the Teachings of Abraham you can read about it on their website http://www.abraham-hicks.com. Basically the gist of it is that we are a physical and non-physical being or our “physical self” and our “non-physical self” or our “inner being.” These two parts of ourselves communicate with one another. Mate and Enlightenment

This blog is going to be about a journey to self discovery. It is about finding my true self after much searching and suffering.

It will also be a blog for enjoyment for those who read it because I believe we are, deep down inside, pure joy. We are here to enjoy our lives. So I want to bring joy into this blog as well.

This blog will be about sharing what I discover along the way on this journey of enlightenment hoping it will help whoever reads it on their own journey.

Oh, and I forgot, the mate… Well yerba mate is a strong green tea that people drink in places like Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and other countries in South America. They also drink it in some middle eastern countries.

You can drink yerba mate in a gourd like you see it in the picture with a metal straw or you can brew it like loose-leaf tea. I will be sharing more about that later on in my blog.

You might ask what is the reason for my title, “Mate and Enlightenment”? Well yerba mate has a different kind of caffeine and you get a boost of mental clarity as you drink it. It seems to go well with good conversation and getting together with friends.

People drink it alone or sit in a circle with family and friends and pass it around. You can even pass someone a mate now on some social media sites (look it up). So bring your mate next time you drop in for a visit at my blog.

Aloha, namaste, and hasta luego and until later!
